Overview

The combination of etoposide, methotrexate, and mitomycin (VMM) is a chemotherapy regimen used primarily in the treatment of metastatic breast cancer in patients who have been heavily pretreated with anthracyclines, taxanes, and capecitabine. The regimen typically consists of intravenous administration of each drug on specific days within a 21-day cycle. Etoposide is a topoisomerase II inhibitor that causes DNA strand breaks and prevents cell division. Methotrexate is an antimetabolite that inhibits dihydrofolate reductase, interfering with DNA synthesis. Mitomycin is an alkylating agent that cross-links DNA strands to inhibit replication[1][2][7]. This combination has demonstrated efficacy and tolerability in clinical studies for advanced breast cancer.
