Overview
A combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of etoposide and nimustine hydrochloride (ACNU). Etoposide is a semisynthetic podophyllotoxin derivative that inhibits DNA topoisomerase II, thereby inhibiting DNA synthesis. It is cell cycle dependent and phase specific, affecting mainly the S and G2 phases. Nimustine is a nitrosourea compound. This combination has been studied particularly in the treatment of malignant gliomas.
