Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Etoricoxib + betamethasone is a fixed-dose combination (FDC) therapy developed by Laboratorios Silanes for the management of pain and inflammation. This combination pairs etoricoxib, a selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor, with betamethasone, a potent synthetic corticosteroid. Etoricoxib provides targeted anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects by inhibiting the COX-2 enzyme, which is responsible for prostaglandin synthesis in response to inflammatory stimuli, while sparing the COX-1 enzyme associated with gastrointestinal protection. Betamethasone complements this action by acting as a glucocorticoid receptor agonist, modulating gene expression to suppress a wide range of inflammatory cytokines and mediators. This dual-action approach is designed to provide rapid and effective relief for acute musculoskeletal pain and inflammatory conditions.
