Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ETX-155 (formerly ETX-020155) is an investigational, orally active neuroactive steroid that acts as a positive allosteric modulator (PAM) of the gamma-aminobutyric acid type A (GABAAR) receptor. It was designed to target both synaptic and extrasynaptic GABAARs with high intrinsic efficacy and a long half-life of approximately 40 hours, enabling once-daily dosing without a clinically meaningful food effect. Originally developed by Athenen Therapeutics and subsequently acquired by Eliem Therapeutics (now Climb Bio), ETX-155 was evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for major depressive disorder (MDD), perimenopausal depression (PMD), and focal onset seizures (FOS). However, in February 2023, Eliem Therapeutics discontinued the development of ETX-155 across all indications to preserve its cash runway.
