**Evacetrapib + simvastatin** is a combination of two small molecule drugs: evacetrapib, a potent cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) inhibitor, and simvastatin, an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin). Evacetrapib acts by inhibiting CETP, which results in increased HDL cholesterol and reduced LDL cholesterol. Simvastatin works by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase in the liver, decreasing cholesterol synthesis and upregulating LDL receptors to lower plasma LDL cholesterol.
