Drug intelligence / Profile preview
EPORIV-E is an oral softgel capsule formulation containing a combination of evening primrose oil (1000 mg) and tocopherol (vitamin E, 150 mg). Developed by Rivchem Pharmaceuticals, it is primarily indicated for the treatment of fibrocystic breast disease and cyclical mastalgia (breast pain). Evening primrose oil is a rich source of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), an essential omega-6 fatty acid that serves as a precursor to anti-inflammatory eicosanoids like prostaglandin E1, which helps regulate hormonal activity and reduce cyclical breast pain and inflammation. Tocopherol acts as a lipid-soluble antioxidant, protecting breast tissue from oxidative stress and free radical damage. Together, these components work synergistically to alleviate breast discomfort, pain, and swelling associated with hormonal fluctuations.
