Overview
Everolimus + carboplatin is a combination of two pharmaceutical agents used primarily in oncology clinical trials. Everolimus is an oral mTOR (mammalian target of rapamycin) inhibitor that binds to FKBP-12 and inhibits mTOR activity, leading to reduced cell proliferation and angiogenesis by blocking the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway[1][2]. Carboplatin is an organoplatinum alkylating agent that exerts its antineoplastic effect by forming DNA adducts and cross-links, thereby inhibiting DNA synthesis and function[4]. The combination has been investigated for synergistic anti-tumor effects in metastatic breast cancer (including triple-negative subtypes) and advanced melanoma[2][3][5][6][8]. Everolimus was developed by Novartis.
