exenatide + sitagliptin

Exenatide + sitagliptin is a combination of two antidiabetic agents used for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Exenatide is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist that increases insulin secretion, suppresses inappropriate glucagon release, slows gastric emptying, reduces food intake, and promotes weight loss. Sitagliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor that increases endogenous GLP-1 concentrations by inhibiting its degradation, thereby enhancing glucose-dependent insulin secretion and decreasing glucagon secretion.
