Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**EYP001 + entecavir** is an investigational oral combination therapy under evaluation for chronic hepatitis B infection. EYP001 (also known as vonafexor) is a synthetic, selective, non-steroidal, non-bile acid farnesoid X receptor (FXR) agonist, while entecavir is a nucleoside analog antiviral. EYP001 acts through modulation of the FXR pathway, resulting in impairment of hepatitis B virus (HBV) replication and inhibition of viral antigen secretion, whereas entecavir inhibits HBV polymerase, reducing viral replication and DNA synthesis. The combination aims to achieve additive or synergistic anti-HBV effects, targeting both viral replication (entecavir) and the viral reservoir (EYP001), with the promise of improving rates of HBV functional cure[1][3][4][5][7].
