Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A fixed-dose combination therapy of **EYP001a (also known as vonafexor)**—an oral small molecule agonist of the farnesoid X receptor (FXR)—and **peginterferon alfa-2a**, developed for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B (CHB). EYP001a modulates bile acid, lipid, and glucose metabolism through FXR activation, leading to reduced hepatic inflammation and fibrosis. Peginterferon alfa-2a is a well-established antiviral agent acting as an immunomodulator that enhances antiviral immune responses. In clinical trials, the combination is being investigated for its ability to improve functional cure rates in virologically suppressed CHB patients by targeting both viral replication and host immune pathways.
