ezetimibe + rosuvastatin

**Ezetimibe + rosuvastatin** is an oral lipid-lowering combination that pairs ezetimibe, a selective inhibitor of intestinal cholesterol absorption through Niemann-Pick C1-like protein 1, with rosuvastatin, a competitive inhibitor of hepatic 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase. The complementary mechanisms lower circulating LDL cholesterol by reducing both intestinal cholesterol uptake and hepatic cholesterol synthesis, thereby increasing hepatic LDL-receptor-mediated clearance. Fixed-dose products are used with diet for hypercholesterolemia; the United States product Roszet is indicated in adults with primary non-familial hyperlipidemia and homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia.
