F(ab')2 antivenom of Daboia russelii siamensis is a species-specific immunotherapeutic product composed of purified F(ab')2 antibody fragments derived from the plasma of animals (typically horses) immunized with the venom of the Eastern Russell’s viper (Daboia russelii siamensis). The primary mechanism is passive immunization—these antibody fragments bind and neutralize toxic components in the snake venom, thereby preventing or reversing systemic envenoming effects such as coagulopathy, neurotoxicity, and tissue damage. This monovalent antivenom is specifically formulated to target antigenic proteins present in D. r. siamensis venom and has demonstrated efficacy against geographically diverse venoms from Thailand and Indonesia[3]. It does not contain the Fc portion of IgG antibodies, reducing risk for certain immune reactions compared to whole IgG preparations.
