F2F22B + DL001Z (also known as FT-003) is an investigational, adeno-associated virus (AAV)-based gene therapy developed by Frontera Therapeutics for the treatment of neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration (wAMD). The product utilizes a dual-vector system, where F2F22B and DL001Z represent two separate AAV vectors required to deliver the genetic payload for a full-length monoclonal antibody. By delivering the gene for a potent anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) protein directly to the retina via a single intravitreal injection, FT-003 aims to provide sustained therapeutic levels of the protein, thereby reducing the treatment burden associated with frequent anti-VEGF injections. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials to assess its safety, tolerability, and preliminary efficacy in patients with wAMD.
