Overview

Factor VIIa (recombinant) is a protein involved in the coagulation cascade. When administered, it binds to tissue factor at the site of injury, activating Factor X and leading to thrombin generation and fibrin clot formation. The inhaled formulation, known by the development name Alveodex, is being developed to locally promote hemostasis in the lungs for the treatment of diffuse alveolar hemorrhage (DAH), a life-threatening condition characterized by bleeding into the lung alveoli.
