Overview

Faldaprevir + deleobuvir is an oral fixed-dose combination evaluated for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, specifically genotype 1. Faldaprevir is an NS3/4A protease inhibitor, while deleobuvir is a non-nucleoside NS5B polymerase inhibitor. The combination is usually administered with ribavirin but is studied as an interferon-free regimen. Developed by Boehringer Ingelheim, the combination aimed to provide an effective oral therapy for HCV with improved tolerability over peginterferon-based regimens. However, efficacy was notably higher in HCV genotype 1b compared to genotype 1a patients, and the overall effectiveness did not surpass newer direct-acting antiviral regimens. As a result, further development of this combination regimen was terminated[3][2].
