Overview
A **combination therapy** of drei agents for chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype-1 infection. Faldaprevir is a small molecule inhibitor targeting the HCV NS3/4A protease, blocking viral replication. Peginterferon alfa-2a is a pegylated long-acting recombinant interferon stimulating the host immune response, and ribavirin is a nucleoside analogue that inhibits HCV RNA synthesis. This regimen was primarily studied in patients with chronic HCV genotype-1 (including prior null and partial responders), and showed improved sustained virologic response (SVR) rates compared to peginterferon and ribavirin alone. Dosing typically involved faldaprevir orally once daily, peginterferon alfa-2a subcutaneously weekly, and ribavirin orally daily, with some studies including a lead-in of peginterferon and ribavirin before faldaprevir initiation[1][2][4][7].
