Drug intelligence / Profile preview
faldaprevir + peginterferon alfa-2b + ribavirin is a triple drug combination for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, particularly genotype 1. Faldaprevir is a small-molecule NS3/4A protease inhibitor that blocks viral replication. Peginterferon alfa-2b is a pegylated form of interferon alpha-2b, functioning as an immunomodulator to boost host antiviral responses. Ribavirin is a nucleoside analog with broad-spectrum antiviral activity, most effective against RNA viruses, including HCV. The combination is used for both treatment-naïve and previously treated patients to improve sustained virologic response rates over peginterferon plus ribavirin alone.
