faldaprevir + TD-6450

faldaprevir + TD-6450 is an investigational oral combination therapy for chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. It combines faldaprevir, a hepatitis C virus NS3/4A protease inhibitor originally developed by Boehringer Ingelheim, and TD-6450, a next-generation nonstructural protein 5A (NS5A) inhibitor developed by Theravance Biopharma. Both agents are small molecules. The combination was designed to improve efficacy, resistance profiles (notably of TD-6450 against genotype 1 resistance-associated variants), and potentially offer a ribavirin-free regimen. The primary target population was patients with HCV genotype 1b and genotype 4. Clinical trials show that all-oral regimens with these drugs (with or without ribavirin) are well-tolerated and achieve high sustained virologic response rates in treatment-naïve patients[1][3][5]. Trials were sponsored by Trek Therapeutics.
