Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Faldaprevir + tenofovir** is a combination of two antiviral drugs: faldaprevir, a hepatitis C virus (HCV) NS3/4A protease inhibitor, and tenofovir, a nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI) primarily used to treat HIV infection. The combination has been investigated for coadministration in patients coinfected with HCV and HIV, to address both viral infections simultaneously. Faldaprevir inhibits the HCV NS3/4A protease, preventing viral replication, while tenofovir impairs HIV reverse transcriptase, inhibiting viral DNA synthesis[1].
