Overview

FavID (also known as Id/KLH) is an autologous active immunotherapy (vaccine) developed by Favrille for the treatment of B-cell malignancies, including diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and follicular lymphoma. The therapy is personalized for each patient by harvesting the unique immunoglobulin idiotype (Id) protein from their tumor cells and conjugating it to Keyhole Limpet Hemocyanin (KLH), a highly immunogenic carrier protein. This conjugate acts as a patient-specific antigen intended to stimulate a cytotoxic T-lymphocyte and humoral immune response against the malignant B-cell clone. In clinical trials, FavID was typically administered subcutaneously in conjunction with sargramostim (GM-CSF) to enhance dendritic cell recruitment and antigen presentation. Development was halted after a pivotal Phase 3 trial (the STELLAR study) failed to demonstrate a significant improvement in time to progression for patients with DLBCL.
