Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fecal microbiota transplant is an investigational biologic therapy being evaluated for the treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS) in a pilot study conducted by Griffin Hospital. [3, 4] The treatment involves the administration of 30 oral capsules containing fecal material from healthy donors. [3, 4] The therapeutic goal is to modify the gut microbiota composition in MS patients, which is believed to influence immune function and potentially slow the inflammatory processes involved in MS progression. [5, 6, 7] This approach is based on observations that the gut microbiome is altered in individuals with MS. [7]
