Felodipine + hydrochlorothiazide is a combination of two antihypertensive agents used to treat high blood pressure. Felodipine is a long-acting dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker that lowers blood pressure by relaxing vascular smooth muscle through inhibition of voltage-gated L-type calcium channels, leading to vasodilation and reduced arterial contractility[4][5]. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic that reduces blood pressure by promoting renal excretion of sodium and water, thereby decreasing plasma volume and peripheral vascular resistance[2][3]. The combination targets both vascular tone and fluid balance for additive antihypertensive effects. This therapy is primarily indicated for the management of hypertension in adults.
