Felzartamab (TJ202, MOR202) is a fully human monoclonal antibody that targets the cell surface glycoprotein CD38, which is highly and uniformly expressed on malignant plasma cells in multiple myeloma. It is derived from MorphoSys' HuCAL antibody technology and developed through a partnership between MorphoSys and I-Mab. Felzartamab binds to CD38 on tumor cells, recruiting immune effector mechanisms such as antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) and antibody-dependent cellular phagocytosis (ADCP), but does not involve complement-dependent cytotoxicity (CDC). The combination of felzartamab with lenalidomide (an immunomodulatory agent) and dexamethasone (a corticosteroid) has been investigated in relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma. Lenalidomide modulates the immune system and inhibits angiogenesis, while dexamethasone exerts anti-inflammatory and antitumor effects. This combination aims to enhance antimyeloma activity by targeting different pathways involved in disease progression[1][2][3][4][5][7].
