Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fengshigutong + imrecoxib is a combination therapy investigated for the treatment of active ankylosing spondylitis. It consists of Fengshigutong Capsule (FSGTC), a traditional Chinese herbal medicine containing seven specific herbs (Aconiti Radix Cocta, Aconiti Kusnezoffii Radix Cocta, Carthami Flos, Glycyrrhizae Radix Et Rhizoma, Chaenomelis Fructus, Mume Fructus, and Ephedrae Herba), and imrecoxib, a selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor. The combination aims to enhance efficacy in reducing disease activity (as measured by ASDAS-CRP) while potentially improving gastrointestinal tolerability compared to NSAID monotherapy. The therapy was evaluated in a Phase 4 clinical trial led by the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, which demonstrated superior disease control compared to imrecoxib alone.
