Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This drug is a combination of three lipid-lowering agents: **atorvastatin** (an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor or statin), **ezetimibe** (a cholesterol absorption inhibitor), and **fenofibric acid** (the active metabolite of fenofibrate, a fibric acid derivative). The combination acts via complementary mechanisms to manage hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia by reducing LDL cholesterol, decreasing cholesterol absorption in the intestine, and lowering triglyceride levels, while modestly increasing HDL cholesterol. It is primarily indicated for adults (and sometimes children over 10 years) with high cholesterol, severe hypertriglyceridemia, or homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia[1][3].
