fentanyl + levobupivacaine is a combination analgesic and local anesthetic formulation being evaluated by Assiut University for the management of postoperative pain. Specifically, it is used topically on nasal packing to reduce the pain associated with the removal of these packs following endoscopic nasal surgery. Fentanyl is a potent synthetic opioid that acts as a mu-opioid receptor agonist, providing systemic and local analgesia. Levobupivacaine is a long-acting local anesthetic that blocks voltage-gated sodium channels, preventing the initiation and conduction of nerve impulses. By combining these two agents, the treatment aims to provide superior pain relief compared to local anesthesia alone during the distressing procedure of nasal pack removal.
