Ferli-6 (Mahidol University)

Ferli-6 is an oral combination pharmaceutical product consisting of ferrous fumarate, folic acid, and pyridoxine hydrochloride (Vitamin B6). It is primarily indicated for the treatment and prevention of iron deficiency anemia and concomitant folic acid deficiency, particularly in pregnant women during the third trimester. The ferrous fumarate component serves as a source of elemental iron to replenish body iron stores and support hemoglobin synthesis. Folic acid is included to support erythropoiesis and prevent neural tube defects, while pyridoxine hydrochloride aids in various metabolic processes. Clinical studies conducted at Mahidol University in Thailand have utilized Ferli-6 as a standard oral iron comparator against intravenous iron sucrose for managing anemia in late pregnancy.
