Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FERROZINC and similar "ferro + zinc" products are oral combination supplements containing both an iron salt (such as ferrous fumarate or iron II gluconate) and a zinc salt (such as zinc sulfate monohydrate or zinc gluconate). These formulations are used to treat or prevent concurrent deficiencies of both iron and zinc. Iron is essential for hemoglobin synthesis and oxygen transport in the blood, while zinc is a trace element important for immune function, growth, wound healing, and numerous enzymatic processes. The combination may also include other nutrients such as folic acid and vitamin C to support hematopoiesis and enhance absorption. These products are typically indicated when there is evidence of combined deficiency states[3][5].
