Drug intelligence / Profile preview
N-ron is an oral hematinic combination product developed and marketed by Adwin Life Care, containing ferrous ascorbate and folic acid. It is primarily indicated for the treatment and prevention of iron deficiency anemia, particularly during pregnancy and lactation when nutritional requirements are significantly increased. Ferrous ascorbate is a synthetic chelate of iron and ascorbic acid that provides high elemental iron content with superior bioavailability and improved gastrointestinal tolerability compared to traditional iron salts like ferrous sulfate. Folic acid, a member of the vitamin B complex, is essential for DNA synthesis, amino acid metabolism, and the maturation of red blood cells, and its supplementation is critical in pregnancy to prevent neural tube defects.
