Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tardyferon Fol is an oral, prolonged-release combination medication containing ferrous sulfate (an iron salt) and folic acid (vitamin B9). It is primarily indicated for the prevention and treatment of iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia associated with folic acid deficiency, particularly during pregnancy, postpartum, and lactation. The formulation features a specialized controlled-release matrix that slowly releases the iron component in the gastrointestinal tract, which enhances absorption and improves gastrointestinal tolerability compared to standard immediate-release iron supplements. Folic acid is included as an essential cofactor to support DNA synthesis, cell division, and erythropoiesis.
