Overview

This is a combination drug consisting of three active pharmaceutical ingredients: - **Fexofenadine** is a second-generation antihistamine (H1 receptor antagonist) used primarily to treat allergic symptoms by blocking the action of histamine at H1 receptors. - **Fluticasone propionate** is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid with potent anti-inflammatory activity, commonly used in the management of asthma and allergic rhinitis. It works by reducing inflammation in the airways[4][5]. - **Salmeterol** is a long-acting beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist (LABA) that acts as a bronchodilator, relaxing airway smooth muscle and improving airflow in conditions like asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)[5][7]. The combination aims to provide comprehensive control over respiratory symptoms associated with asthma or allergic airway diseases by addressing both inflammation (fluticasone), bronchoconstriction (salmeterol), and histamine-mediated allergy symptoms (fexofenadine). While combinations of fluticasone propionate and salmeterol are widely marketed for asthma/COPD, there is limited evidence or approval for fixed-dose triple combinations including fexofenadine; however, co-administration has been studied[1].
