Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DWP14012 + DWC202005 is an investigational combination drug product being developed by Daewoong Pharmaceutical for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and the prevention of gastric damage in patients requiring antiplatelet therapy. The combination consists of fexuprazan (DWP14012), a potassium-competitive acid blocker (P-CAB), and aspirin (DWC202005), a salicylate that acts as an antiplatelet agent and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Fexuprazan provides rapid and reversible inhibition of the gastric H+/K+-ATPase (proton pump), effectively suppressing acid secretion. Aspirin acts by irreversibly inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes, primarily COX-1, to prevent platelet aggregation. This combination is primarily evaluated in pharmacokinetic interaction studies to ensure that the acid-suppressing effects of fexuprazan do not interfere with the absorption or efficacy of aspirin, particularly enteric-coated formulations.
