Overview

Fibrocaps (brand name Raplixa) is a dry powder fibrin sealant consisting of human plasma-derived fibrinogen and thrombin. It is used as an adjunct to hemostasis during surgical procedures to control mild to moderate bleeding when conventional techniques are insufficient. The product is unique for its dry powder formulation, which is stable at room temperature and can be applied directly to the bleeding site or via a gelatin sponge. It was developed by ProFibrix and later acquired by Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals.
