Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fibrostatin fluoride [18F] is a radiopharmaceutical PET imaging agent developed by Yantai Lannacheng Biotechnology, a subsidiary of Dongcheng Pharmaceutical. It is designed to target Fibroblast Activation Protein (FAP), a cell-surface serine protease that is highly overexpressed on cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) within the stroma of most epithelial tumors, including gastric cancer. The agent utilizes a small-molecule FAP inhibitor (FAPI) ligand labeled with the positron-emitting isotope fluorine-18 (18F), typically via an aluminum fluoride ([18F]AlF) complexing method. This allows for sensitive and high-resolution PET/CT imaging of the tumor microenvironment. Fibrostatin fluoride [18F] is particularly valuable for the staging and monitoring of cancers that exhibit low 18F-FDG uptake or are located in areas with high physiological glucose background, providing a more accurate assessment of primary and metastatic lesions in FAP-rich tumors.
