Overview

A fixed-dose combination of fimasartan, amlodipine, and hydrochlorothiazide is being developed primarily for the treatment of hypertension. Fimasartan is an angiotensin II type 1 receptor antagonist (ARB) that blocks the action of angiotensin II, leading to vasodilation and reduced blood pressure. Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker that inhibits calcium influx into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, resulting in relaxation of blood vessels and decreased blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic that promotes sodium and water excretion by inhibiting sodium reabsorption in the distal tubules of the kidney, further contributing to antihypertensive effects. The combination targets multiple mechanisms involved in blood pressure regulation for improved efficacy in patients with hypertension[1][2][3].
