Overview

Treatment R refers to a therapeutic regimen involving the co-administration of three antihypertensive agents: fimasartan, amlodipine, and hydrochlorothiazide. In the context of clinical development by Boryung Pharmaceutical, this regimen serves as the reference arm in Phase 1 studies (such as those for the triple fixed-dose combination BR1010) to compare pharmacokinetic profiles and safety. Fimasartan is a non-peptide angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that selectively antagonizes the AT1 receptor. Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker (CCB) that inhibits the transmembrane influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic that acts on the distal convoluted tubule to inhibit sodium and chloride resorption. This triple combination is intended for the management of essential hypertension in patients not adequately controlled by dual therapy.
