Fimasartan + linagliptin is a fixed-dose combination of two small molecule drugs used primarily for the management of patients with both hypertension and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Fimasartan is an angiotensin II type 1 receptor blocker (ARB) that lowers blood pressure by inhibiting the action of angiotensin II on its receptor, leading to vasodilation and reduced aldosterone secretion. Linagliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor that increases levels of incretin hormones such as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP), thereby enhancing insulin secretion in a glucose-dependent manner and reducing glucagon release, which helps regulate blood glucose levels.
