Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**finasteride + tadalafil** is a fixed-dose oral combination drug used to treat the signs and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men with an enlarged prostate. It contains two active ingredients: finasteride, a Type II 5α-reductase inhibitor, and tadalafil, a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor. Finasteride acts by inhibiting the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), leading to reduced prostate volume and improvement in urinary tract symptoms. Tadalafil works primarily by relaxing smooth muscle via PDE5 inhibition, improving lower urinary tract symptoms and also increasing erectile function in men with comorbid erectile dysfunction. The drug is indicated for up to 26 weeks of treatment and is taken as a once-daily oral capsule[1][3][5][7][8].
