Overview
Finasteride + tamsulosin is a fixed-dose combination of two small molecule drugs used primarily to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate gland in men. Tamsulosin is an alpha-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist that relaxes smooth muscle in the bladder neck and prostate to improve urine flow. Finasteride is a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor that reduces dihydrotestosterone (DHT) production and shrinks the enlarged prostate over time. The combination provides greater symptom relief than either drug alone by both improving urinary flow and reducing prostate size[1][2][3][4][5]. It is not indicated for use in women or children.
