Drug intelligence / Profile preview
fIPV + RotaTeq refers to the concomitant administration of a fractional dose of inactivated poliovirus vaccine (fIPV) and the pentavalent rotavirus vaccine RotaTeq. This regimen involves the intradermal delivery of 0.1 mL (one-fifth of a full dose) of IPV alongside the oral administration of RotaTeq. The combination has been primarily evaluated in clinical trials in low-resource settings, such as Bangladesh, to optimize vaccination schedules and address IPV supply shortages. RotaTeq, developed by Merck, contains five live human-bovine reassortant rotaviruses (G1, G2, G3, G4, and P1A[8]) to prevent rotavirus gastroenteritis, while fIPV provides protection against paralytic poliomyelitis caused by poliovirus types 1, 2, and 3.
