Overview

FLAC + GM-CSF is a combination therapy used primarily in oncology, particularly for patients undergoing myelosuppressive chemotherapy or stem cell transplantation. "FLAC" refers to a chemotherapy regimen that typically includes the drugs fluorouracil, leucovorin, doxorubicin (Adriamycin), and cisplatin. "GM-CSF" stands for granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor, a biologic agent (such as sargramostim) that stimulates the proliferation and differentiation of myeloid lineage progenitor cells in the bone marrow. The addition of GM-CSF to FLAC aims to enhance immune recovery by increasing white blood cell production after chemotherapy or transplantation, thereby reducing infection risk and potentially improving treatment outcomes[3][4][7][8][10]. This combination is most often used in settings where rapid hematologic recovery is desired following intensive cytotoxic therapy.
