Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fluad + Prodiax refers to the concomitant administration of the MF59-adjuvanted trivalent influenza vaccine (Fluad) and the 23-valent pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine (Prodiax/PPV23). Fluad, developed by Seqirus, is an inactivated split-virion vaccine containing hemagglutinin antigens from three influenza strains (A/H1N1, A/H3N2, and B) and is formulated with the MF59 oil-in-water emulsion adjuvant to enhance immunogenicity in the elderly. Prodiax, manufactured by MSD, is a polysaccharide vaccine containing purified capsular polysaccharides from 23 serotypes of *Streptococcus pneumoniae*. This combination regimen was evaluated in a Phase 4 clinical trial (NCT02225327) sponsored by Korea University Guro Hospital to determine the safety and immunogenicity of simultaneous vaccination in healthy adults aged 65 years and older, aiming to improve vaccine coverage for both seasonal influenza and pneumococcal infections during a single clinical visit.
