Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Assan Dolo Emgel is a topical combination formulation developed and manufactured by Permamed AG for the treatment of painful and inflammatory musculoskeletal disorders, rheumatic complaints, and blunt injuries. It contains three active ingredients: flufenamic acid, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) of the fenamate class that inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes to reduce prostaglandin synthesis; hydroxyethyl salicylate, a salicylate derivative with analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties; and heparin sodium, an anticoagulant that improves local microcirculation and aids in the reduction of swelling. The emulsion gel (emgel) formulation is alcohol-free, non-greasy, and approved in Switzerland (Swissmedic) for over-the-counter use.
