Overview

Otosynalar (also known as Oto-Synalar N) is a combination ear drop solution containing fluocinolone acetonide (a synthetic fluorinated corticosteroid), neomycin (an aminoglycoside antibiotic), and polymyxin B (a polypeptide antibiotic). It is indicated for the treatment of external otitis and other inflammatory conditions of the ear that are responsive to steroids, particularly when there is suspicion or risk of bacterial infection. Fluocinolone acetonide acts as an anti-inflammatory agent by suppressing immune responses and reducing inflammation. Neomycin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to ribosomal RNA, while polymyxin B disrupts bacterial cell membrane integrity. This combination provides both anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects for localized ear infections[2][4].
