fluocortolone + lidocaine

**Fluocortolone + lidocaine** is a combination drug comprised of a synthetic corticosteroid (fluocortolone typically as the pivalate and/or caproate ester) and a local amide anesthetic (lidocaine). It is primarily indicated for the local treatment of hemorrhoids and other anorectal inflammatory conditions. Fluocortolone exerts anti-inflammatory, antiallergic, and antipruritic effects through glucocorticoid receptor agonism, thereby reducing swelling, redness, and itching in affected tissues. Lidocaine provides fast-acting, reversible local anesthesia by blocking voltage-gated sodium channels in neuronal cell membranes, which suppresses pain and itching at the site of application. The combination provides both anti-inflammatory and rapid symptomatic relief, and is available as a cream and suppository for rectal and perianal administration. The combination is widely used in Europe, Latin America, and other regions but not approved in the United States.
