This multi-agent chemotherapy regimen is an experimental treatment protocol developed by the Cancer Institute and Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences for the management of locally advanced gastric adenocarcinoma. The regimen combines systemic chemotherapy using the SOX protocol (oxaliplatin and the oral fluoropyrimidine S-1, which contains tegafur, gimeracil, and oteracil potassium) with a localized intraperitoneal (IP) chemotherapy cocktail consisting of fluorouracil, nab-paclitaxel, cisplatin, and interleukin-2. This therapeutic strategy is specifically evaluated in patients who test positive for molecular residual disease (MRD) in peritoneal lavage fluid following radical surgery. By combining systemic and localized delivery, the regimen aims to eliminate both circulating tumor cells and potential peritoneal micrometastases, thereby reducing the rate of peritoneal recurrence and improving survival outcomes.
