Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination of two separate medications that have a clinically significant drug interaction. Fluoxetine is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) used to treat depression and other psychiatric conditions. Clopidogrel is an antiplatelet medication that prevents blood clots by inhibiting platelet aggregation. When used together, fluoxetine may inhibit the metabolic activation of clopidogrel through CYP2C19 inhibition, potentially reducing clopidogrel's efficacy in preventing heart attacks and strokes. This combination should generally be avoided as fluoxetine can make clopidogrel less effective.
