Fluo-Pred-Iver is a combined regimen of three medications: fluoxetine, prednisolone, and ivermectin. This combination has been investigated as a potential treatment for COVID-19, particularly in ambulatory patients with mild disease. The rationale behind this combination appears to be: 1. **Fluoxetine**: A selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) that may inhibit serotonin production in the body and decrease serotonin levels in platelets, potentially reducing excessive serotonin production during inflammatory storms and lung damage in COVID-19. 2. **Prednisolone**: A corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory properties. 3. **Ivermectin**: An antiparasitic agent that has shown some in vitro antiviral activity. It may work by inhibiting the importin (IMP) α/β receptor, which is responsible for transmitting viral proteins into the host cell nucleus. The combination has been studied in clinical trials to evaluate its efficacy in preventing disease progression in patients with mild COVID-19.
