Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a fixed-dose combination of three active pharmaceutical ingredients: **flupentixol**, **melitracen**, and **lansoprazole**. - **Flupentixol** is a typical antipsychotic (thioxanthene class) primarily acting as a dopamine D1 and D2 receptor antagonist, producing antipsychotic, antidepressant, and anxiolytic effects, especially at low doses[1][2][4][8]. - **Melitracen** is a tricyclic antidepressant that inhibits the reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine at presynaptic nerve endings, thereby increasing their synaptic concentrations and improving mood and anxiety symptoms[1][2][3][4][8]. - **Lansoprazole** is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that suppresses gastric acid secretion by blocking the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system on the gastric parietal cell surface, used to treat acid-related disorders such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Such a triple combination may be used in the management of gastrointestinal conditions with associated mood disorders, such as GERD with anxiety and depression, building on evidence that adding the psychoactive dual therapy to PPI improves both gastrointestinal and emotional symptoms in affected individuals[7]. The combination addresses both the psychiatric and gastrointestinal aspects of functional or stress-exacerbated digestive disorders. Flupentixol + melitracen is primarily developed by Lundbeck, while lansoprazole is developed by Takeda; the three-drug combination does not have a widely recognized international brand or proprietary name and is not a globally established fixed-dose product.
