Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Flurbiprofen axetil + oxycodone is a combination drug used primarily for postoperative analgesia. Flurbiprofen axetil is a prodrug of flurbiprofen, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that provides targeted analgesia by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes, thereby reducing prostaglandin synthesis and inflammation at the site of injury. Oxycodone is a semisynthetic opioid agonist that acts mainly on the mu-opioid receptor to provide potent analgesic effects, particularly effective for visceral pain. The combination leverages the distinct mechanisms of both drugs to achieve synergistic pain relief with potentially fewer adverse effects than higher doses of either agent alone. This regimen has been shown in clinical studies to be effective and safe for patient-controlled intravenous analgesia after surgery, including lower abdominal and colorectal cancer surgeries[1][2][3].
